Hey, I’m Engelie

a passionate food enthusiast with a heart deeply rooted in the flavors of the Philippines. Born in Cebu and raised in Germany since the age of seven, my life has been a beautiful blend of two cultures. With a background in tourism, travel and exploration are in my blood.

My earliest and most cherished memories are of my trips back to the Philippines every 2-3 years. These weren't just regular trips; they were precious moments where I reconnected with my Filipino heritage, particularly through the incredible local cuisine.

Living in a German city without Filipino restaurants, I turn to the internet to learn more about Filipino cooking. I explore different Filipino recipes and foods on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and other social media sites. This way, I keep connected with the diverse and rich food culture of the Philippines.

My love for Filipino food knows no bounds – from the well-known adobo to the many delicacies I have yet to try. This unexplored territory of taste is what fuels my passion and curiosity.

In June 2024, I plan to return to the Philippines to fully immerse myself in the rich tapestry of local cuisine.

My goal is to explore and savor dishes from various regions, uncovering the unique stories and traditions that shape each one. This hands-on experience is a crucial step in my preparation before embarking on the ambitious venture of bringing Filipino culinary delights to a broader audience.

This blog serves as my creative space and diary. In this space, I'll be sharing:

  • Filipino Restaurants: Discoveries from various countries, both online and through my travels.

  • Recipes: Authentic recipes and my attempts at recreating these.

  • Culinary Adventures: Documenting each dish I try, diving into their history, and sharing my personal experiences.

  • Cultural Insights: Exploring the rich history of Filipino food and its significance in our culture.

  • And more…

Join me on this flavorful journey as I explore the depths of Filipino cuisine.
